Buddy Jewell and Airplane Mode

I've been listening to more music.  Buddy Jewell songs mostly, and My Mix on Youtube.  Ricky Van Shelton, Waylon Jennings, Don WIlliams, Merle Haggard, Jerry Reed.

Buddy stopped by my work back in the summer, to get some things for his yard.  He introduced himself, and we talked and laughed for a few minutes.

He was super nice, and I went back in and looked up his songs.  Turns out, I've been singing along with Buddy on the radio for years:  Sweet Southern Comfort (link above), Country Enough, Moma's Roses, Help Pour Out the Rain, Today I Started Loving You Again, and other great songs.

Buddy is old school country.  If you aren't familiar with him, his voice reminds you of a smooth baritone Trace Atkins.  His appearance, a little like Travis Tritt, but way taller.  He is an original, and his own man.  His songs are great to listen to and sing.

Buddy does a Tuesday night facebook live show.  His fans watch and listen and share encouragement with him and each other.  The way Buddy interacts with people, and points others toward Jesus and the love of God is something we can all learn from and try to do.

Another thing that happenned recently- my cell phone stoped working.

No texting, calls, or internet available.

My internet connection settings:

Four days from the end of the billing cycle.  The home wifi was down and I must have used all my data.  Unlimited might have limits after all.

We found bluetooth ear buds in Steve Jolley's bike stuff.  I charged them up and tried them out.  Unvelievable sound. Best I've ever heard.  Must be expensive!  I searched them online...

$7.93?  I'm reminded that I don't get out much.

Anyway, all that music must be where the data went.

For a week or so, I'd stop at McDonald's and use their wi-fi.  It's one way to catch up on text messages, and emails.  As you are doing this, you see several others doing the same thing.  These are my people!

Sunday afternoon.  I stopped at the Verizon store.  The store is remodleled.  No counters, no "Customer Service" signs, and I had no idea where to go or who to talk to.

There are three tables in the middle of the store with stools around them.  It looks like a library with no books.  Just inside the front door, and I'm sure, looked like I was lost.  Finally, a young man with a verizon logo the size of a quarter on his shirt asked me what I was there for.  I told him my phone stopped working.

He got my name and number, and put me on "The List."   Now that I knew about the logo, there were three more logos helping the dozen or more customers.

I waited.  Nothing.  They never called out anybody's name, and I didn't notice people leaving.  Thirty minutes. I'm out the door, going home.

Terri asked if I got my phone fixed.  I told her the one word version of the above, "No."

She got on her phone, which still worked, and started troubleshooting.  She got to a online help site for Verizon.  The person typing on the other end told Terri to check my phone's Airplane mode.

They asked me to go to Airplane mode.  I did, and it was off.  The VZ  person said if it's off, turn it on, of it's on turn it off.

Easy enough. I turned it on. (this will never work)  A moment later, the person said, "Ok now turn it off.  That should do it."

I was skeptical.  But the phone's internet connection reset.  Verizon data was accessible again.

Allrighty.

My phone woke up.  Two messages from Verizon.  The second one said, "You're next in line."

Maybe they missed the whole, My phone stopped working conversation.

Luckily, I have a specialist at home.  Mrs. Terri.

I'll be over here.

If I'm moving slow, it's the ear buds and the Buddy Jewell music.

It could be I'm on Airplane mode.
