Bigger than the six o'clock news

Are you all upset over the six o'clock news?

What if your stomach is growling, or you have no decent shoes.

What if your kids are hungry, and they are looking to you

to provide them some hope, some joy, and at least, some food.

What if your car is on empty, and your rent is past due,

and desperation, need, and pain surround you.

What if your fridge is empty, and your cabinets are too,

and things that were so important, now mean nothing to you.

Are you still worried about the six o'clock news?

Wait!  There is hope!  There is joy!  There is a place you can go!

Where the people smile and talk to you, and greet you with a warm Hello.

Before they open, they pray, asking God to show

you His Grace, Love, and Mercy as you walk through their door.

Joy and Mike have everyone ready for a great day.

At 10 the doors open, and one of the volunteers will smile and say,

"Welcome to the Christian Cooperative Ministry!" Now you are thinking, okay...

And you will leave there with hope.  Hope for the future, begins with hope for one day.

That is bigger than the six o'clock news.

Volunteer! Make a difference!  You will go with the notion of helping someone else.  You somehow get back so much more than you give.  Be part of something bigger than yourself. Be part of something bigger than the six o'clock news.
