Ten Three
Point Shots in one game !
Our regular morning
loop circled the Motlow campus, and One of our favorite things to aggravate
Jeff about, was his basketball days at Motlow.
Jeff’s single game record of ten three point shots stood for twenty-one
years.
The game was February 7, 1994,
and as a team, the Bucks scored 138 points against Chattanooga State. The 138 points is still a record for most
points in a game! Jeff was a special
player. On that day, Jeff was the best shooter, in the
highest scoring game ever at Motlow. Let
that sink in for a minute. We knew we were in
the company of a great player, but we didn’t let that stop us from aggravating
him!
There was
always construction going on at Motlow. Almost
every time we circled the college someone would say, " It's about time they started that," or “Is that where the statue is going?” “What Statue?” someone else would answer, “The one of Jeff
Taylor launching a three point shot!”
The joke never got old, because Jeff always smiled big and told stories
about his team mates, and why that 93-94 team was special. With Jeff it was all
about the team. On the mornings Jeff was not with us, we still talked about his
statue. When he was with us, you knew
somebody would bring it up, just a matter of when.
Jeff's ten three's record help up for 19 years, then Clint Nwosuh hit 11. Clint and Darren Frazier were a double threat from three point land that year, and they both put up some big numbers, and won their teams won a lot of games too.
