Last night, I was at home flipping channels. Django ("Jang-o") Unchained was starting. I've seen alot of it, but never the whole movie.
One of the main characters is Stephen.
Samuel l. Jackson is a legend. His work - unforgettable. The Django movie is violent, and harsh. No doubt there is some truth to it.
Instead, now I'm making a list of other "Steves."
Movie and TV Steves...
The mule in Waterboy, was Steve. Momma Boucher, played by Kathy Bates, said to her son, Bobby, "You off galavantin with your fancy foosball friends at school, while I'm sittin here all day with nobody to keep me company, ... cept STEVE??"
Television...Steve Rhodes was Al Bundy's next door neighbor, and married to Marcie. We laughed with them, and at them, then and today with reruns.
In the 1970's, we had three TV channels: ABC, NBC, and CBS. Steve was sometimes the main character...
Steve Austin, played by Lee Majors. for five seasons, from 1974-1979.
Steve McGarrett, on Hawaii Five-O, played by Jack Lord. From 1968 to 1980.
Later, Steve Urkel. In real life, Jaleel White is a serious guy, and a good athlete. His Urkel character, not so much.
Real life famous Steves...
Steve Martin brought us King Tut, the Jerk, and Planes Trains, and Automobiles.
Steve Carell- The Office, and voices in many kid's movies.
Steve McQueen. Next rainy day, watch Tom Horn, The Hunter, Bullitt, or The Towering Inferno, and tell me Steve McQueen is not the King of Cool.
Steve Garvey, Dodgers legend.
The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, I recall an episode where he was in the Southeastern US, and he came upon a big rattlesnake..."Eastern Dyemondbeck ! These is tha Hylight of Ma Careeeeer!... He's got a fair whack of venom in there I reckon!"
Steve Jobs inspired a generation.
Stephen King scared the daylights out of the same generation.
Steven Tyler. Hard to know if he was singing or screaming sometimes, but we all tried to sing Dream On, with him.
Steve Winwood. Known for the songs, Higher Love, and Back in the High Life Again.
Steve Perry. Journey lead singer. Don't Stop Believin, and Open Arms.
The last Steves are family, and mean the most to me!
Steve Williams.
Steve is my 2nd cousin. Strong, smart, tough, funny, family man. His dad, our Uncle George, was my grandfather's brother. We all grew up around each other. Steve married JoyLynn Northam, and they moved to Oklahoma and started a family and a machine shop.
Steve was above all else, a Christian, and a family man. His kids, Stephanie, and Aaron have families, and grown kids now. They celebrate each other, and life itself as good as anyone I know. We can learn from them!
Steve loved a sunrise, and a sunset! He made a point to stop and appreciate them. It was not unusual to see a fresh picture or two every day, as he shared them with friends and family on facebook.
At one point, both of his parents were at the Life Care Nursing Home in Tullahoma. Steve drove in regularly from Oklahoma, to check on them and help out. His devotion and love for his family was a great example for us younger cousins.
Steve walks the streets of gold now, and he doesn't need that cane anymore. He sees the sunsets from there. In God's time, the rest of his family, including us second cousins, will join him.
Stephen Jolley is my Brother In Law. Terri's brother, he is the youngest of the Jolley kids. Here he is at 14, at mine and Terri's wedding shower in Tullahoma.
He was still the biggest kid in the family in his forties. Climbing sideways up a fallen tree in 2022.
He moved from Martin, TN, population 10,825, to Nashville. Steve knew people from school, and never met a stranger. He worked in sales for Thompson Equipment, and made many more friends.
If you kept up with the Nashville Predators in the 2000's, there were games that a catfish was tossed onto the ice after the Preds scored. Well, at an away game in Pittsburg, down a couple of goals, a "rally Cat" found its way onto the ice.
