 Yamaha PW 50

That is John LaCook in the picture behind Will, at the bottom of the hill. He was making sure Will made it through the dry creek.  John was the biggest kid out there.  He loved to watch everyone having a good time.  John had access to a farm on Hasty Lane, and it was a great place to ride.  The trail went in and out of the woods, through the dry creek, and made a big circle.

Will was 6 when we got the PW 50.  On Christmas morning, it was under our tree.  He learned quickly.  For a couple of years, we had very little grass in our front yard.  Especially, between the two dog wood trees at each end of the yard where he made his loop.  We took the baffle out of the muffler.  The popping sound not only sounded great, but we knew he was still upright and riding ok when we heard it.

This starts out a little blurry.  It is Will and Robin at Mr. Barbeau's farm.  Wait for the end when Will make the pass in the grass!
Will the Thrill PW 50...   He had no fear.

John was out there with us watching the kids ride one day and Will went zipping by.  He accelerated until there was not much left in the PW 50.  When he did let off the gas, there was a high speed wobble of the front tire.  This is a good way to have a pretty bad crash.  It is tough to recover from that when it happens, no matter how old and skilled the rider is.  Will got up on the pegs, and rode it out.  It never bothered him.  John commented how lucky Will was, and how well he handled that situation.

When Will was little, if you told him we are going to ride today, you knew where to find him...

We passed the PW 50 on to Don Porter and his son Wesley.  It was Wesley's kids that rode it next.  Also, Wesley and Don are good mechanics, and they updated motorcycle with new plastics, and even swapped out the frame while they had it.  Their kids rode it till they out grew it, and Wesley called and asked if we wanted it back.  I said sure!
I am thankful for Don and Wesley for keeping it running, and improving what was already there.

The PW50 is back in our garage, waiting for Rylee and Elliott to grow up a little.  I look forward to watching the kids make laps around the two dogwood trees in our front yard.  The grass looks a little too good out there.
