Kawasaki KDX 200, motorcycle #9

Kawasaki KDX 200

It was the spring of 2007.  Karen and Robin were 14 and 12 years old.  They stayed busy with soccer, school, and church things.  Terri and I, ok, mostly I, thought it would be fun to get an old dirt bike that was big enough for me, and small enough for them.  Doug and Ross Daniel had a 1987 KDX 200 for sale.

The Daniels lived out past Motlow College  in Moore County on a big farm.  After looking at it, and riding it a little bit, it ran strong, and sounded great.  The two stroke exhaust was familiar, and even smelled good to me.  It had been 20 years since the Suzuki RM 250.  It didn't take long until Karen and Robin could kick start it, and take off without any help.

They loved it.  Seeing them rip around on that old dirt bike was so much fun.  The pictures above are at my mom and dad's house in Mt. Vernon, in the corner lot.

In town, Dan and Jennifer Barbeau owned a farm on Blue Creek Road, and they allowed us to ride out there.  There was a creek, a big gentle hill, and two fields.  They built a beautiful house on the top of that hill, and still live there.  It is a quick five minutes from our house, and was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  Sometimes we took friends with us...
